US company check
Check a US company before you pay, sign or partner
Registration, registered agent, OFAC sanctions, liens, federal court cases and SAM.gov — public records you would otherwise look up site by site, on one page.
What the check covers
Each section names its source and what it can’t tell you. What appears depends on what that source publishes for the company.
Registration status
Free, no accountState registries · SEC EDGAR
Status, entity type, formation date, state and address as filed.
From the state registries we have connected, and SEC EDGAR for SEC-reporting companies. Status is shown where the state publishes it.
Registered agent
Free, no accountState registries
The agent named for service of process, with the address on file.
Where the state registry publishes it. Confirm with the state before you serve papers.
OFAC sanctions
Free accountUS Treasury OFAC — SDN list
Screens the company name against the Specially Designated Nationals list.
Name screening only. A possible match is shown for you to review — it is not a legal determination.
Liens & tax warrants
Free accountState UCC & tax-warrant records
UCC financing statements (secured debt) and state tax warrants (unpaid state tax).
Currently Colorado and Connecticut UCC filings and New York State tax warrants. Elsewhere the section is hidden — that is not a “no liens” result.
Federal court cases
Free accountPACER via CourtListener RECAP
Federal cases where the company is named as a party, with links to the docket.
Federal courts only — state and county courts are not included.
SAM.gov registration
Free accountSAM.gov (GSA)
Federal contractor registration status, UEI and whether the entity is on the exclusions list.
Matched by name and state. When several registrations share a name we list them instead of guessing.
SEC financials
Starter planSEC EDGAR (10-K data)
Revenue and net income from annual reports.
Only for companies that file with the SEC — mostly public companies.
Federal contracts & grants
Pro planUSAspending.gov
Most recent federal contracts and grants awarded to the company.
Matched by company name.
Company structure
Business planSEC Exhibit 21 · our database
Subsidiaries listed in the latest 10-K, plus possibly related companies that share a registered agent or officer.
Subsidiaries only for SEC-reporting companies; “related” is a lead to check, not proof of ownership.

Free vs paid
A risk check unlocks one company’s sanctions, liens, federal court cases, SAM.gov and officers. Plans differ by how many checks a month, and what else is included.

What we don’t do
Knowing the limits is part of a good check.
Not every state registry
We have connected some state registries, not all of them. If a company isn’t found, we link you to that state’s official registry search.
Companies only — no people search
We don’t search individuals, phone numbers or emails, and we don’t run background checks.
Not a consumer report
USACIP is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. Don’t use it to decide on anyone’s employment, credit, insurance or housing.
Not a credit report
No credit score or payment history. Liens and tax warrants are public-record signals, where we have them.
Federal courts only
Court results come from federal dockets. State and county court cases are not included.
Not legal advice
Public records can lag or change. Before a legal filing or serving papers, confirm with the official state registry.
Questions
Is the company check free?
Searching and the registration details — status, address and registered agent where the state publishes them — are free without an account. A free account opens the full report of 1 company (one-time): sanctions, liens, federal court cases, SAM.gov and officers where available. Paid plans start at $9/month for 10 checks a month — each a company report or a search by person.
Which sanctions list do you check?
The US Treasury OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list, matched on the company name. A possible match is shown with the SDN entry and program so you can review it; confirm with OFAC’s own Sanctions List Search before acting on it.
Does it include state court cases?
No. Court results are federal cases from PACER via CourtListener’s RECAP archive. State and county courts are not covered.
Can I rely on the registered agent for service of process?
Use it to find who to serve, then confirm it on the official state registry before you file — agents change, and our copy of the record can lag behind the state.
Can I use it to check a person or a job applicant?
No. USACIP covers companies only and is not a consumer reporting agency. It must not be used for employment, credit, insurance or housing decisions about individuals.
What if the company isn’t found?
Not every state registry is connected yet. Try the EIN or a shorter name; if there is still no match we show a link to the official registry for that state.
How do I cancel a paid plan?
Plans are monthly and renew automatically. Cancel the renewal in one click in Account → Billing; you keep access until the end of the paid month.
